Dear CDC,

as the basis of your activity is knowledge and science, I would like to know what is the scientific basis of your decision (Mrs Psaki said it is your decision) to prevent the entry into the US of a vaccinated Schengen citizen? I don't know if you know how this BAN works? If someone has been in the Schengen area for the last 14 days, they are not allowed to enter the US. So maybe more precisely, if I want to fly to the U.S. (being fully vaccinated, being able to take an additional test), which has at the moment the sum of vaccinated persons at the level of min. 1 dose 61.0% and fully 49.7% from the Schengen zone, which has at the moment 69.5% 58.7%, I have to first fly to Mexico, which has at the moment 32.9% - 18.6%, stay there min. 14 days and then I can fly into the US with anti-gen test. Where is the science here? Don't you think this kind of decision undermines your credibility as a scientific cell? Can I please get detailed explanation ? (plese don't write with slogans like delta wariant is spreading)

Of course, the document I am relying on is Joe Biden's Proclamation from 01/25/2021

The proclemation states:

Section 1 Suspension and Limitation on Entry. (a) The entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of noncitizens who were physically present within the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom (excluding overseas territories outside of Europe), the Republic of Ireland, and the Federative Republic of Brazil during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States, is hereby suspended and limited subject to section 2 of this proclamation.
(b) The entry into the United States, as immigrants or non-immigrants, of noncitizens who were physically present within the Republic of South Africa during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States, is hereby suspended and limited subject to section 2 of this proclamation.

This means that anyone who has been outside the Schengen area for more than 14 days in a place which is not subject to a ban can enter the USA. These places include the so-called third world countries. These places include, for example, Indonesia, which is currently one of the largest COVID spots. So if I live in Germany, where 50% of the population is fully vaccinated and so am I, I still cannot fly to the USA, but if I fly to Indonesia and spend 14 days there, and on the 15th day I get on a plane and fly to the USA, all I need is a negative anti-gene test (I don't even need to be vaccinated) and I am allowed to entry into US. This is an outrage and an absurdity which does not have the slightest scientific basis. As for the source of responsibility, Ms Psaki said at a press conference 2 days ago that the CDC is responsible for decisions regarding the BAN on entry to the US. Is the probability of virus transmission greater from a fully vaccinated person living in a country where 60% have had one dose and 50% have had a second dose greater than someone flying in from a country like Mexico or Indonesia where the vaccination rate is 16.6% first dose and 6.8% (Indonesia - 07/27/2021) fully vaccinated and they do not even need to be vaccinated, they just need to show a negative anti-gene test for covid. These are facts. Please explain where is the science and logic here?
